Caution Labels in Manufacturing

Caution Labels in Manufacturing

Caution labels are used in a variety of different industries and manufacturing processes. In the pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing industries caution labels are often required for Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) and to meet the GMP requirements of the broader Quality System regulations they must follow.

Manufacturers must keep records of their labeling process and also ensure that the labels they use meet the needed specifications for integrity, adhesion, legibility, and other requirements.

In addition to caution stickers, manufacturers must use other quality control labels such as status labelswaste labels, and materials labels to satisfy the Good Manufacturing Practice requirements. Custom labels are also used often as companies frequently need to add additional or custom information to labels for their internal processes.

Caution Labels

Caution labels are some of the most frequently used labels in laboratories and with medical devices, and pharma products. The labels come in a wide variety of shapes, colors and sizes and include cryogenic labels, expiration date labels and biohazard labels.

Caution labels are used to indicate a variety of conditions or give instructions on how to handle materials and substances properly during the manufacturing process.

For example, delicate or potentially harmful substances may have a caution biohazard material label, not for human usenot for clinical use or non-sterile sticker.

Some substances need to be kept refrigerated, frozen or in a sterile environment. In these instances, a refrigerate or freeze upon arrival label or sterile label lets the receiver know the correct temperature or environment that the product must be kept in.

Supplies that are date sensitive may require expiration date or shelf life caution labels

Caution Signs

In addition to caution labels, caution signs may be required for certain areas to protect workers or the materials, products, and substances in the manufacturing process.

Examples of caution signs are eye protection or proper attire required signsdo not enterkeep door closedhair covering required, lab jackets or gloves required and authorized personnel only signs to name a new.

In addition to their internal processes with labels, manufacturers might use quality control and caution labels that are themselves manufactured to be compliant with the required specifications.
